This is a perfect segment to recharge your batteries before reaching Pescadero and climbing the mountain

Hilly, scenic and well paved, it has everything to be a classic segment out here.

This is an excellent ride, my group normally Starts at Woodside, climb Kings mountain and then go down to the Red Hut at Tunitas. The Tunitas return climb is a pleasure, you can even join groups starting at the Red Hut or meet fellow climbers as you go along. First "rest" is a bridge surrounded by redwoods called "The Church" , this is the start of the hard climb that ends at "Grassy Knoll" (2nd rest) - After Grassy Knoll, it is just cruising all the way to skyline. Every other year, after Summer, the maintenance crew of Tunitas spreads gravel generously, some bikes cannot make the climb as the pebbles get stuck between frame and tire, be careful.

Narrow winding road but little traffic. Starts out Nellie from Half Moon Bay, increasingly steep near Purisima Creek Redwoods trailhead parking

Initially, Cloverdale Road throws a few set of climbs at you. For almost half a mile, this stretch of the ride maintains an average grade of 7 or 8 percent and follows it with one last steep (but very short) burst that seems to reach at least 15% grade. As you approach Butano State Park, though, the road becomes mostly flat and starts following a small, flat-bottomed valley.
