The Rocky Run Stream Valley Trail runs from the Fairfax County Parkway to Ellanor C. Lawrence Park. It's 4.6 miles long, and the trail has a mix of asphalt and stonedust surfaces. It is a great tree-lined route with bridges, stream crossings, fairweather crossings, and paved swales. For most of its length, the trail follows Rocky Run Creek, and due to the fact that certain sections are of stonedust, it is best done on a bike with decent tires or on a gravel bike.

Clifton is a small, but historic town, with most of its houses being over 100 years old. Beckwith House, which has stood for over 250 years, is the oldest. It was first known as Devereux Station, then Clifton Station, but now goes by the shortened version, Clifton.

It's surrounded by residential neighborhoods but the trail is well screened by trees. In this tranquil setting hikers but in particularly bikers can enjoy picturesque stream crossings along with the wildflowers and birding opportunities.

This pretty little pond is surrounded by houses, but it still makes a nice sight as you walk past on one of the nearby trails. It's also easy to recognize, thanks to the fountain/water feature near its middle.
