About 250,000 years ago, the Rodderberg volcano reawakened. A particularly well-visible testimony to the slag eruptions is a fissure filled with lava that penetrated the slag deposits in the northern quarry. The slag was mined, and the basalt dyke remained standing due to its greater hardness. It can still be admired at this spot today. https://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC1TKGT_rodderberg-vulkan
