The Wanssum Tower is a historic feature that once adorned the roof ridge of the former town hall, Den Schellaert. This distinctive building, which later served as a Chinese restaurant, was demolished as part of the Ooijen-Wanssum area development project – a project focused on water safety and nature development. To preserve the striking tower, it was carefully removed from the roof in 2019 and stored at a local carpentry company. In 2021, the tower was given a new, symbolic location on the edge of the Wanssum marina. There, it now forms the centerpiece of an artistic "life art path" – a walking route where nature, reflection, and creativity converge. The base of the tower is decorated with colorful underwater creatures, designed by primary school children from De Peddepoel. This makes the Tower not only a reminder of the past but also a living work of art for the future.
