A nice narrow path to leave Eindhoven on the north side. Slow down if you're facing oncoming traffic because it's really narrow. Also, watch out for roots poking through the asphalt. There are quite a few bumps in the path.

Sometimes a bit narrow, especially with bikes and walkers, but it is very nice to leave the busy city behind for a while.

The Beatrix camp was built by the German occupiers during the Second World War as Siedlung a.d. Oirschotse Dijk. After the liberation, it was given the name Prinses Beatrixkamp and consisted of a collection of residential buildings, a canteen building and the like. It was also used by the Ministry of Defence for storage purposes. In the early 1980s, the runway of Eindhoven Air Base was moved and rotated, and it came to lie in the approach route of the air base, and it was no longer used by the Ministry of Defence to house the military personnel who worked at the air base. From 1991, it became an asylum seekers' centre with the name Beatrixoord. It remained that until 2011. In 2012, the buildings were demolished, because it was no longer habitable because it had come to lie in the approach route of Eindhoven Airport (and Eindhoven Air Base) since the runway was rotated. A nature reserve, the Prinses Beatrixbos, was built on the site of the barracks. The fake church, built by the Germans to make the Siedlung look like a normal village, was preserved and became a bat shelter. Other buildings, once disguised as farms by the Germans, were demolished.

The Henri Dunant Park in the Woensel district of Einhoven was created in 1972 and is 22 hectares in size. In the southern area there is a huge children's playground area ("Speelpark de Splinter") - a true paradise for the little ones. The park itself is very chic, with a rose garden to the north and an extensive pond area with a large colony of waterfowl. The site is particularly shaped and designed by Frans Gast's distinctive, 30 meter high chimney sculpture. The tubes used to stand on the piazza in the center of Eindhoven and have been in Henri Dunant Park since 2010. Six LED lights illuminate the 30 meter high work of art from the ground with white light and color accents. The lighting system is switched on in the morning and evening at the same time as the public lighting in the park, but is switched off again at night. https://www.henridunantpark.nl/ https://www.henridunantpark.nl/kunst-in-het-park/
