After 3 years of renovation work, the Permeke Museum reopened its doors to the public on 29 March 2024. When you say Permeke, you say Jabbeke and vice versa. Constant Permeke (1886 – 1952) lived here for about 20 years. Born in Antwerp in 1886, he moved to Ostend with his entire family in 1892. He would continue to live there until the end of the 1920s, with a short stopover in England during the war years. From 1929 onwards, we find him in Jabbeke: he continued to live there until his death in 1952. The Permeke Museum offers a permanent insight into a number of striking subjects from Permeke's life and work. Stories are told with works of art, utensils, archive material, photos and films.
