The war memorial of Stekene is a protected monument. It is therefore quite imposing. It consists of a tall bluestone column with a statue of an angel at the top. On the front of the column is "To our fallen soldiers", the names of the victims are on the sides. At the top of the column, a draped flag with the motto "Freedom or Death" can be seen, and on the left side is the coat of arms of Stekene. The Stekene town hall is a Neo-Gothic building from 1882-1883, designed by architect Edmond de Perre Montigny. It has been a protected monument since 1995. In 2000 it was restored. Around 1200, there would already have been a church here in Stekene. Around 1220, a new church was built, probably Romanesque, for 1500 believers. In 1548, the church was enlarged with three choirs and two transepts, accommodating approximately 2350 believers. Over the centuries, many changes and renovations were carried out. In 1897 and 1898, the church underwent a thorough renovation, an extension, and a restoration. The church was also extended by 9 meters. The architect was Julius Goethals. The former post office building on the corner of Durmelaan and Markt dates from 1906 and is therefore 120 years old. In early 2019, it was purchased by the city. The appearance of this building is very significant: it is, after all, one of the four landmarks present on each corner of the Markt, namely the town hall, the Saint Lawrence Church, the city museum, and thus the post office building. The fact that it is a protected monument and part of the protected cityscape makes it not obvious for a private developer to find a suitable destination, but the city council did see opportunities here. The building has stood empty in recent years, but - after the first essential repairs to the roof (2020) - the city began thorough renovation works in 2023 (obviously without changing anything to the facade).
