On September 11, 1999, an earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale was recorded near this village. This was possibly related to the Peelrand fault. Points of interest: * Church of Our Lady of Lourdes * Lourdes Grotto * Procession Park * Open-air theater * Bronze statue of Tinus * Chapel in honor of Saint Anthony Abbot, a small niche chapel with a canopy dating from 2007, at the corner of De Hei and Grensweg. * The Totem Pole, a gift from the emigrants for the village's fiftieth anniversary in 1983.

A Lourdes grotto was built (1935), attracting many pilgrims. A local café was called "Pelgrimsrust" (Pilgrim's Rest) until 1995 (now "De Pelgrim"). Processions were held there, for which a procession park was also established. The names of Mary and Bernadette permeated all aspects of village life. After the 1950s, interest waned, and when Van Eijndhoven retired in 1970, the grotto quickly fell into disrepair. A 1997 initiative to rebuild the grotto, with the support of an entrepreneur and numerous volunteers, led to its re-dedication in 1999. Marian devotion has since revived, though no longer with the massive scale of the 1930s. Source and more information: Wikipedia
