One of the old Baroque-era bells is still in the tower today; the others were melted down during the First and Second World Wars and replaced after the wars. Source: https://www.kirchenkreis-wittenberg.de/kirchenkreis/gemeinden-und-kirchen/pratau/kirche-selbitz/

The first church likely dates back to the 13th century. Spanish mercenaries destroyed it in 1547 during the Schmalkaldic War. It was rebuilt and consecrated 170 years later. Construction took five years, delayed by the Great Northern War. The grave of the pastor, Johann Christian Gottlieb Wessel, was discovered in 1925 during demolition work in front of the altar, remarkably well preserved. This same pastor preached from the pulpit, which is incorporated into the Baroque altar. The sacristy also dates from this period. Two 300-year-old tower beams have survived. Due to its dilapidated condition, the church had to be demolished in 1925. The last service in the Baroque church took place in May 1925. A month later, the foundation stone of the current church was laid. It was consecrated on April 25, 1926. ...
