An imposing tree, this dead oak! It is said that the Prussian chief took a rest at this tree. In the run-up to Christmas, an Advent market is traditionally held here.

Tourism flourished in Magdeburgerforth decades ago, also influenced by the nearby military training area. Even back then, people liked to immortalize themselves in the bark of trees.. and so there are many inscriptions to be discovered along the banks of the Gloine, some of which date back to the 1930s.

It is not known where the name "Emmas Ruh" came from. The bench bears witness to past decades, when one could linger here and had a wonderful view over the village pond and village to the opposite slope with the church. Historical postcards show the wonderful view, today the trees are too big. But you can try your luck a little below and look between the trees in the direction of the village. Perhaps a line of sight will be created here again at some point?

Here, just before the Ziesarberg, at 88 m above sea level, is one of the highest freely accessible points in Jerichow Switzerland. The nearby Vorderer Moosberg is higher, but is already in the military restricted area of the Altengrabow military training area.

It's not just the hilly terrain that reveals that you're in Jerichow Switzerland. If you look closely, you can even discover rocks here - rock or boulder?! After heavy rains, sometimes more is flushed out.

The thunder oak was planted in 1892, so it is well over 100 years old. Its name goes back to the Oberlandforstmeister Donner, who planted this tree. The information board provides further details.
