A 2.5 km long hiking trail between the steelworks and the Maustmühle mill leads directly through the pond area. To the east are the Hälterteich and the Neuendorfer Oberteich. Both ponds are among the largest bodies of water on the Peitz pond estate. On the other side flows the Hammergraben, an artificial tributary of the Spree. Behind them lie smaller ponds. Along the trail, information panels provide interesting information on the history of the Peitz ponds, fish farming, flora, fauna, and nature conservation. The pond educational trail was named after the fisheries scientist Professor Dr. Wilhelm Schäperclaus (1899-1995). https://tourismus.peitz.de/de/landschaft/professor-schaeperclaus-teichlehrpfad

From there, you can reach Maust via Teichweg. Unfortunately, the path along Hammergraben toward Peitz is closed (due to industrial premises). Only the bike path is available.
