St. John's Church The small village church in the heart of Erlach is a small gem. A fresco uncovered during the renovation (1988-1993), depicting Herodia and Salome and the beheaded John, bears the date 1504 in one spot. The pottery shards discovered ten centimeters below the floor during the renovation were dated to 1250 or shortly thereafter. Albert Verbeek, a recognized expert on Romanesque architecture, dates the church to the Romanesque period (1020-1250). Special thanks go to Pastor Rudolf Langhans, who saved the church from demolition and initiated the renovation work. A 16th-century wall painting can be seen in St. John's Church in Erlach. Many fishermen once settled in Gemünden, as fishing was apparently extremely lucrative here. A fountain here at the fish market is intended to commemorate the abundance of fish and the times when the square was still a fish market.

The ice cream parlor also serves good Italian espresso! Otherwise, a visit to the old town is worthwhile, even just for a quick stop.

A truly beautiful, well-developed cycle path. Suitable for road bikes, thanks to its excellent asphalt surface. The landscape along the Sinn River is, of course, the perfect backdrop.
