Most of those buried here fell during the so-called Łódź Operation, which took place between the German and Russian armies in the period from November to December 1914. Most of them are victims of fighting in the immediate vicinity of Wiączyń, as well as Olechów, Janów, Nowosolna, Dąbrowa, Bedoń and Feliksin. Soldiers who fell in the area during other periods of the Great War are also buried here. According to estimates, about 9 thousand soldiers are buried in the cemetery.
