The tour is drawing to a close, the door from the Annaberg Franciscan monastery is incorporated into the church. The state of preservation is impressive, the church was never severely damaged, but the tower and roof have been on fire several times. Back outside, looking at the church from the outside, we now go up the tower. The view inside looking up, it is 78 meters high. Information boards, photographs and furnishings accompany us up the stairs. We learn a lot about life as a watchman and the past of the watchman families who lived here. The tower is still inhabited today, the 80sqm apartment is located at a height of 42 meters. This is where Europe's only watchman family lives. When heavy rain and storm are raging outside, we get into a long conversation with the watchman, Mrs. Melzer. Thank you for the insight into your life! Let's also explore the outdoor area. The clouds are almost within reach, the rain is pelting down on us. This view over the city is special and remarkable. Everyday life is very different when you live in a tower, arduous but somehow also liberating, the perspective on what is necessary changes completely. Living here is already unique.
