On the outer wall between the Wildau substation and Birkenallee, you'll find this beautiful mural depicting motifs from Wildau's past and present. The old Class 52 steam locomotive depicts the very same locomotive with the number 52 8135-7, which can be admired in its original form on a turntable a good kilometer further south in the courtyard of the Wildau Technical University (TH Wildau) (see hiking highlight https://www.komoot.com/de-de/highlight/1025295) A few meters further on, the mural in the windows of the workshop depicts important buildings such as the town hall, the Ludwig Witthöft High School, and the A10 Center.

The current town hall was built in 1906 as a community center. During this time, many clubs were formed in Wildau and made this building their home. After the end of World War II, General Tarasov decreed the reopening of the building as the "Cultural Center of Heavy Machine Builders." Highlights included the youth consecration ceremonies, the presentation of skilled worker certificates, and the handover of employment contracts to young skilled workers upon completion of their vocational training. To meet modern requirements, the cultural center underwent structural reconstruction in 1963/64 and 1987/88. Since 1991, it stood vacant due to unclear ownership, was transferred to trust ownership, and fell into disrepair. In 1994, following a court case, the building complex was awarded to the municipality of Wildau with the aim of using it as the new town hall/community center. Between 1999 and 2000, after a very short renovation period of 13 months, the keys to the Volkshaus were handed over on December 22, 2000.
