It's a Protestant church. It's also used for concerts, readings, and other events. It's also a stamping point for the Harz Monastery Hiking Trail, which is why there's a red box on the grounds. Next to it is an angel bench. Angel benches are located at 20 prominent locations in the Harz Mountains. Those who sit on them may feel the angel lift them up or even embrace them. The benches were handcrafted by the youth workshop of the Goslarsche Höfe.

The hall church dates back to the Middle Ages and is of Romanesque origin. Roe stone was used as the building material. Its construction may have occurred between 960 and 1024, thus during the Ottonian period. The existence of a chapel was first documented in 1086. To the west of the nave is a church tower, perpendicular to the nave, with an almost square floor plan and a tent roof. While the northern outer wall of the nave is aligned with the north wall of the tower, the nave projects slightly on the south side. The western portal and the current church windows were added later, in 1702. The same applies to the polygonal apse added to the east side. The church was renovated in 1991. Source: Wikipedia
