The romantic little brick church in Binnen—or rather, its immediate surroundings—is home to a special ecological treasure: In its garden are four of what are probably the oldest trees in the Nienburg district: a linden tree, estimated at a proud 450 years old, and three yew trees, the oldest of which is said to be an incredible 600 to 800 years old. This ancient tree may have already been standing when workers began construction of the church around 1350. The small, Gothic-style church is also special in another respect: its clock is still powered by a purely mechanical mechanism located on the church tower floor. https://www.nienburg-online.de/branchenbuch/eintrag/kirche-binnen/21570/1000789/

The Januarsberg rises like a small island in the middle of the heathland. After a short but steep climb, the view opens up to a wooden observation tower, which fits perfectly into the surroundings with its simple, rustic design.
