The Wahrenholzer Brunnen is a small, nicely designed square in the middle of the village of Wahrenholz near Gifhorn. There you will find a bubbling water feature, a large erratic boulder, and a small wild boar sculpture – everything seems more tranquil and close to nature than a "grand monument".

The "Old Oak" is no ordinary tree, but a true natural monument – presumably several hundred years old and heavily altered today, as the trunk is largely hollow inside. Nevertheless, it still stands like a silent witness to history in the middle of Wahrenholz, reminding us how long nature and village history have been intertwined here.

The Isebrücke is a beautiful starting point for a relaxed tour along the river Ise. A walk towards the Wahrenholz watermill, which is located nearby, is particularly worthwhile – from there you have one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the region's typical floodplain landscape.

Definitely take time for the viewpoints and boardwalks – that's where the moor really comes alive. Especially in the morning or late afternoon, you often have a very calm atmosphere with good light and sometimes even calls of cranes or geese in the background. And important: Definitely stay on the wooden boardwalks and marked paths – the ground often looks stable, but in places it is very sensitive and not load-bearing.

The Heidjerpfad begins in the village center of Wahrenholz and is designed as a circular route – whether you walk the north or south part, both practically start in the village center (at the water mill or Hauptstraße) and lead you directly into the typical Südheide landscape.

The Das Große Moor near Gifhorn is a real natural highlight in the region – here’s a little tip for your visit: When you are out and about there, it’s best to stick to the wooden boardwalks or signposted paths. This way, you’ll get a good impression of the typical moor landscape with heath areas, peat cuttings, and moorland forest, without disturbing the sensitive nature. It’s particularly beautiful in the early morning or in light fog – then the landscape seems almost a bit mystical.

The best way to combine the visit is with a hike or bike tour through the impressive moor landscape – the atmosphere is unique, especially in the early morning or evening hours. Please stay on the marked paths, as the Große Moor is a valuable nature reserve with rare plants and animals.

The station is rather small and unstaffed, so it's best to buy your tickets beforehand via the app or at the ticket machine. It's also practical that there are good bicycle parking spaces – ideal if you come from the surrounding area and combine (bike + train). Furthermore: it's a typical local transport stop, so don't expect long transfer times or major infrastructure – simple, quiet, and uncomplicated for boarding and alighting.
