A church with an eight-century history The Fjellerup Church was built in Romanesque style with meter-thick walls and round arches. The choir and the eastern part of the nave probably date from the 12th century and are partly built of granite blocks. Traces of the former entrances for women and men can be seen in the plinth. The massive oak beams above the oldest part of the church may still be from the time the church was built. In the 16th century, the nave was extended to approximately double its size. A porch and tower were added in the 18th century and built of monkstone and rough granite. Until 1889, the Fjellerup Church was connected to the Østergaard estate. The owners of the estate donated, among other things, the pulpit, candlesticks, and iron grille doors to the church. The pulpit dates from 1592 and is decorated with coats of arms and Christian motifs. The gilded iron grille doors from 1708 bear coats of arms and initials of former owners of Østergaard. The Romanesque baptismal font possibly dates from the earliest period of the church. The altarpiece from 1959 depicts Jesus and two disciples in Emmaus. In the church, there is also a model of a Greenlandic freight ship and an epitaph for Anna Margreta Mollerup from Østergaard, who died in 1763. https://www.visitaarhus.de/region-aarhus/reiseplanung/fjellerup-kirche-gdk605779

Very clear water and a very gently sloping beach with sandbanks in front. As an adult you have to walk a long way to be waist-deep in the sea
