This house of worship, which rises in an exposed position on the ridge above the valley, was consecrated to Saint Peter. Simon, nicknamed Peter (Rock), was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee when – together with his brother Andrew – he was called by Jesus Christ to become a "fisher of men". According to Catholic understanding, he is the chief apostle, and the two-thousand-year line of popes – currently Leo XIV – stand in his succession. In statues and paintings, Peter is almost always depicted with two keys in his hand; this attribute refers to the biblical passage in Matthew: "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Chapter 16, Verse 19). Peter, along with Paul, is also known as the "princes of the apostles"; their common feast day in the calendar of saints is on June 29th.

Nice, relatively large campsite on the Sava River between Bled and Lesce.

Take the longer road for the uphill. Avoid in the afternoon and on the weekends, as most trails are too busy with hikers

The right side (flow direction) is not suitable for mountain bikes, especially when wet! Scenically, the route is 100/100, but for the average mountain biker, the route is more like 10/100!
