Tips from the Community

This route is not so easy. Komoot's directions stop halfway for a considerable time where a closed path must be taken. Then there is almost no path for a kilometer and walls must be crossed and the route must be followed visually until Komoot picks it up again with read-out directions. Furthermore, quite steep on a number of parts.

Along the way you walk through a nature park where there are cork trees. In the middle of your journey you will reach the highest point with a breathtaking view over the entire valley to the coast. Definitely recommended.

Ribeira das Ruivas is a small intermittent watercourse. Your crossing takes place at this point, however it is very common, in times when it doesn't rain, to not find any water here. When there is water, however, be prepared to either do without shoes or to rinse them.

Fronteira is a small group of houses located in the interior of the Algarve. The place provides very beautiful views of the region, although there is not much to see in the village itself.

Near the small Barranco do Pingadouro there are a considerable number of cork oaks. The trees - a trademark of the Algarve landscapes - add to the already beautiful landscape of the route.

Lajes is the small village that gives the route its name. It is a bucolic place, largely made up of abandoned houses. Passing along the road you can see some of these houses.
