The goal of our walk was to see flamingos. That worked out perfectly. A Portuguese woman who lives nearby told us that in spring, compared to now (October), everything is full of flamingos, including their young.

We discovered so much here! Herons, all kinds of ducks and geese, and of course, lots of flamingos. Beautiful!

We were lucky and saw a lot of flamingos. There were some in almost every pool. A fantastic experience – a very worthwhile park. Only recommended to a limited extent in hot weather, as shade is scarce here!

Depending on the season and the water, there are sometimes more and sometimes fewer flamingos to see. I have always seen some over the winter. There are other groups now and then in the Lagoa Salgados. It is best to visit the salt pans in the evening, as there are many lemicoles and other water birds to see in addition to flamingos.
