September 28, 2024, View of Providence Canyon

This is one of many great viewpoints in Providence Canyon State Park. The remarkable geological formations around you are what's left behind as the coastal plain weathers away; oce you see it, you'll understand why this is known as "Georgia's Little Grand Canyon."

There are many old rusted cars from the 50s and 60s along the side of the trail. The shells of the cars are slowly being reclaimed by nature—birds and mammals especially use the cars as nesting sites. The cars are from an old homestead that predated the park, but due to their new role in the environment they have been left untouched.

View of the Little Grand Canyon from above. The viewpoints are accessible without having to go through the area. Highly recommended is the view from below as well as from above. The tour (3-Mile White Blaze Trail) takes about 3 hours.

Sturdy shoes are recommended. The canyons can be reached through the more or less dried waterways.
