If you walk from Freyburg an der Unstrut to Henne you will pass here. This section just before the Unstrut flows into the Saale and the one further along the Saale is really a dream and very beautiful in every season. In the picturesque surroundings of a small wine-growing area on the Unstrut, near the famous Max Klinger vineyard, is the Stone Album, a unique monument that reflects the history and culture of the region in a special way. This extraordinary facade with numerous reliefs shows important events, personalities and scenes from the history of the wine-growing area and the surrounding region. The more than 100 reliefs present a wide range of motifs, from the history of wine-growing to cultural and social aspects to everyday scenes from life in this idyllic area. Each relief is carefully designed and offers an insight into the past of the wine-growing area, making the Stone Album a living history book in stone. The 12 stone reliefs that can be seen here represent the largest picture reliefs in the European cultural area that were worked into rock. They were created at the beginning of the 18th century. The total length is almost 200 meters: The following reliefs can be seen: Moses' miracle of the spring, fox hunt, Duke Christian, putti dance with the harpist David, wedding at Cana, Lot's intoxication and burning Sodom, the proclamation of the shepherds, Christ in the winepress, the workers in the vineyard and Noah as the first winegrower.

This beautiful rock relief is located directly on the Unstrut cycle path, between Freyburg and Naunburg. What the ancestors carved into the rock there is impressive and definitely worth seeing!

SAALE Source near Zell in the Fichtelgebirge (728m); Length 413 km; Estuary near Barby into the Elbe The Saale rises in the Fichtelgebirge in Upper Franconia between Zell and Weißenstadt. The upper reaches of the Saale between Zell and Hof are quite leisurely. The river then runs straight through the Thuringian Slate Mountains. The Saale is dammed several times here. The area of the middle Saale begins with the river exiting the Thuringian Slate Mountains and entering the Triassic plate and hill country. After leaving the Saale-Unstrut-Triasland Nature Park near Naumburg, the lower reaches of the river begin. This runs in a flat landscape to the mouth of the Elbe near Barby.
