The Mooshüttenweg is certainly the most interesting path to ride up the Deister from Bad Nenndorf. As it is also heavily frequented by hikers, a fast descent should be approached with caution, especially since it can get very muddy in winter. The parallel, wide Heisterburgweg is certainly more suitable for a faster descent.

The moist Wellergrund is a refuge especially for amphibians.

Not really nice to walk anymore, just rubble, large stones and lots of fallen trees. After 1/3 of the way we switched to the other side of the stream on the official hiking trail towards Totental

Currently full of trees and also a few other plants. I wouldn't want to drive it like that now.

As of 09.2023: Thanks to the loggers and the harvester, the upper part of the path towards Dachtelfeld is badly destroyed and can hardly be found without Komoot Navi. If everyone clears away a stick it will be a great path again.

The photos of the kicker are probably misleading! The "Wellergrund" path is extremely overgrown in summer, there are various trees across the path and some of them cannot be driven over and you can hardly lift your bike over them. My photos are on 30.06. developed. It'll probably get a little worse

The first third of the trail is currently disintegrated and cut, carrying passages. From the first sink the trail is great.

There are currently a few trees in the way. Some can be bypassed, the rest of the bike must be carried briefly.

The primary dedicated facility is the Dirtpark Stadthagen, located on the southern edge of the fairground. It features a multi-meter-high hill with launch ramps and various tracks for jumps and technical maneuvers. However, recent reports indicate it is poorly maintained with overgrown areas and safety concerns.
The broader Landkreis Schaumburg offers a network of mountain biking trails. Popular options include Barsinghausen Telecommunications Tower, known for its good trails and exciting single trail entry, and Rahdener Root Path Trail, a challenging forest trail with small ups and downs. Other trails like Bluna No. 2, Bugatti, and Mammut Trail are popular for downhill riding.
Yes, the region offers trails that combine riding with local history and nature. The Bergbautrail runs alongside historical coal-mining facilities and through an old sandstone area. Additionally, the Pionierweg trail in the Hohenstein Conservation Area is a beautiful single trail featuring small watercourses as natural obstacles.
For advanced riders, challenging singletracks are available. Barsinghausen Telecommunications Tower and Pionierweg trail in the Hohenstein Conservation Area are both categorized as challenging MTB parks. Additionally, trails like Silvester-Stallone and Ride Don't Slide are rated as red difficulty singletracks, with Silvester-Stallone being downhill-only.
Intermediate riders can enjoy trails like the Deister Singletrack at Mooshütte, which is described as a flowing downhill trail with natural jump chances. The Spiegeleier Trail is another flowy singletrack, best ridden downhill from the JBF Centrum towards Obernkirchen.
Besides mountain biking, the region offers various hiking opportunities. You can find numerous routes, including easy and moderate options, such as the 'Mühlenbach Firefighting Pond – Brandshof Shelter loop' or the 'Grubenhaus (Miners' Shelter) – Kammweg Scenic Ridge Trail loop'.
