The Ulm Rose Garden is located on the banks of the Danube between the Herd and Gänstor Bridges and is a gem in the heart of Ulm. In 1970, the former "Elendgarten" (soil garden) on the city wall below the Herdrücke (Herd's Bridge) was converted into a charming rose garden that invites visitors to linger. In 2007, the rose garden on the banks of the Danube was redesigned with the assistance of the Ulm Rose Friends. The first new plantings were prepared in the fall of 2007 and completed in the spring of 2008. The official opening took place in June 2008. The garden is maintained by the City of Ulm and the Ulm Rose Friends. 200 different rose varieties and more than 1,300 individual specimens are arranged according to a special color scheme on 3,000 square meters. There is hardly any shade here, so it can be very hot in summer. A hat is advisable.
