Important: be aware that this is a 500m climb with a gradient of more than 20%! This is almost impossible to drive while sitting (you almost have to drive in aero position so that the front wheel doesn't lift off). At the top the mountain becomes a little more bearable. So apart from the 20%, it's a very steep but consistent climb that demands everything from you. Unfortunately it's a ski area at the top and there's no really worthwhile view. But you have a very long descent into the Murr Valley ahead of you

One of the major transnational long-distance hiking trails in this region is the "ALPE-ADRIA-Trail", which leads from the Großglockner over the Nockberge Mountains to Slovenia and further south of Trieste, then to the Mediterranean Sea. Anyone who would like to take a closer look at the first glimpse can follow the route in the ARD media library: there is a two-part (one-hour total) documentary about this tour as part of the Bavarian television program "freizeit. Schmidt Max ...". with their scenic and cultural features. I like driving steep ramps, I love such challenges! If you like it even steeper: Hirschbichl/Lofer 30%, Passo Forcella (Friuli) 28%, Alpe Fuori 32% (total: 5.5km with 1200m elevation gain...) to name just a few...

Gorgeous section. The actual pass road ends here and we continue through the shady Kremstal. Here you drive through a beautiful forest along the Krems downhill to the Liesertal.
