Good footwear is a must, however, as the path is partly made of coarse gravel and can be slippery, especially when going downhill. It is around 4.5 km with an elevation difference of around 450 m. This idea received additional momentum in 1997, when Villach was awarded the title of "1st Alpine Town of the Year".
