This memorial was built in September of 1991 to honor Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a U.S. president who brought the country into World War II. This memorial is unique from the previous presidential memorials seen in the National Mall, because this memorial uses elements of water, stone, and landscaping to tell the presidents story. there are also a series of "rooms" you can enter.

Don't forget, there were two presidents with that name: Theodore (1901-1909) and his cousin Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1933-1945), to whom this monument is dedicated. A great stop when circling the Tidal Basin and, in addition to commemorating the formidable politician, offers great views of the city and the obelisk.
