A highlight of this tour is the Fraubrunnen Monastery. It is a former Cistercian abbey, located about 16 km north-northeast of the city of Bern. It is the seat of the district administration and a listed building of regional importance. Today, two wings of the former monastery remain. They still retain the basic structure of the monastery, which was rebuilt after the fire of 1280, but were converted into a palace in the 16th century and further remodeled in the 18th century to form the current Baroque palace building.
