Estate 'T huis te Vogelenzang

Highlight • Historical Site

The Huis te Vogelenzang is a castle and estate in the Dutch village of Vogelenzang in the province of North Holland. The current building dates from the 17th and 18th centuries.
During the Second World War, a launch installation for the V1 rocket was built in Vogelenzang and preparations were also made at Huis te Vogelenzang for the construction of an installation. On March 29, 1945, the German troops withdrew, blowing up the V1 runways. The runway on the Vogelenzang estate was also blown up, causing damage to both the house and the surrounding area.[3]

A camping site was created on the estate in 1955. In 2019 the country house is inhabited by descendants of Willem Barnaart. The estate is open to walkers.

The house is a national monument[4] and is – together with the garden, the park, outbuildings, garden parts and the country house Teylingerbosch – part of the national monument Historic Country House in Vogelenzang.[5]

It's beautiful there, I would just avoid going on April 12th due to the crowds and road closures for the flower parade.

Keukenhof Castle The estate of Keukenhof Castle is larger than that of the famous flower park. It consists of various gardens, each with its own appearance. There is also a large forest area where the old dunes are still visible.

The Keukenhof flower park is world famous for the many tulips that bloom in spring. What many people don't know is that the flower park is part of a much larger estate, namely the Keukenhof Castle Estate, and that this estate has beautiful castle gardens that can be visited free of charge all year round. The Keukenhof Castle Estate has more than two hundred hectares of forest, meadows and beautifully landscaped castle gardens. More than eighteen monuments can be found in the historical area. While strolling through the beautiful gardens you will come across many works of art that make every walk special.

The castle is very difficult to reach during the flower parade weekend. In 2024 this will be April 20 and 21.

Located away from the Keukenhof, it is a pleasant relaxation to walk through the almost deserted castle park. The Kasteel and the Landgoed are also worth seeing.
