Pleasant walk through Talamanca and its surroundings with a moderate slope. The route runs along well-marked tracks and is marked with milestones with white and green labels. With this itinerary we will discover the medieval origins of Talamanca based on its cultural and natural heritage. The route follows a section of the stream between small gorges and waterfalls that have emerged between the rocks. The itinerary discovers constructions such as the dry stone huts, the water lilies or the unique area of the balma salt of the Gobians and a part following the stream bed, scene of one of the most important battles of the war of succession. Part of the excursion goes through Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park.

The original building, built in the 11th century, was the embryo of the town and the political center of the district. It was part of the network of castles aimed at the defense of the colonists who repopulated the lands conquered by the Saracens. In the twelfth century, the Saracen threat faded but the process of feudalization caused disputes between Castilians for control of the castle, with several sagas taking place: the Cardona, the Talamanca, the Castellbell. In 1717, Bourbon troops demolished the castle, a fate shared by many of the castles of Old Catalonia. In the 18th century, the Castellbells built the manor house with a tower.

A nice place to visit while out on a hike. The castle has a pretty interesting history and is not very hard to arrive on foot. You cannot really enter because it is all closed up but you can visit from the outside. It is mostly in ruins and would be dangerous to enter.

El Clascar, also known as Bertí's castle, is a building in a ruined state in the municipality of San Quirico Safaja, in the Moyanés region. It belongs to the old rural town of Bertí. It is located at the top of the Cingles de Bertí, very close and at noon to the church of San Pedro de Bertí, in the parish to which it belonged. It is at the eastern end of the municipality of San Quirico Safaja. To its southwest there had been the Can Saloma farmhouse. It is accessed by an old rural road, currently a path, which from San Pedro de Bertí heads south, and in about 650 meters leads to Clascar. By vehicle, the track that allows access leaves from the same place, but turns further east. In 1949 it was classified as a Cultural Asset of National Interest, since its origin is related to a medieval castle.

Dear Banderas, after discussing with you the frustrated visit to the Castle last Wednesday, I decided to return following your recommendation but you won't believe it, it was also closed today, Monday, so for now I will have to content myself with your photographs. Thank you

You can explore several other significant sites. These include El Clascar Castle, a ruined building atop the Cingles de Bertí, and Montbui Castle, a medieval fortification offering majestic views. Also consider Gallifa Castle with its Romanesque chapel and ancient origins, and Talamanca Castle, a Romanesque site dating from the 10th century.
Many castles in the area, like the Castell de Castellcir, feature thick stone walls and defensive characteristics, showcasing medieval military architecture. At Gallifa Castle, you'll find remains of walls, fortified portals, and a Romanesque chapel. El Clascar Castle is a ruined building, but its historical significance as a medieval castle is well-documented.

Yes, the Castell de Castellcir is famously situated on an isolated, elongated rocky cliff with vertical or overhanging walls. This unique geological formation, shaped by erosion, gives the cliff a distinctive 'ship's stern' shape, hence its alternative name, Castell de Popa. The castle's precarious position on this eroding cliff makes it a magnificent spectacle.
Access to the Castell de Castellcir is via the Camí del Castell, starting from the old parish church of Sant Andreu. It requires a hike, including a steep climb after reaching the Centelles stream. While you can hike to the site to appreciate its exterior, the interior of Castell de Castellcir is currently not safe to enter due to its deteriorating condition. Other castles like Montbui Castle and Gallifa Castle are generally accessible for exploration, often involving moderate hikes.
While the interior of Castell de Castellcir is not accessible, the hike to its exterior and the dramatic views can be an engaging outdoor activity for families. Talamanca Castle is also noted as being family-friendly. The general appeal of exploring historical ruins and enjoying nature makes many of these sites suitable for families who enjoy hiking.
The best time to visit is generally during spring and autumn when the weather is milder and more pleasant for hiking. These seasons offer comfortable temperatures for exploring the outdoor ruins and enjoying the panoramic views without the intense heat of summer or the chill of winter. Always check the local weather forecast before your visit.
