A shared path. Watch out for Dogs, Children, Elderly people meandering, youths drinking, and generally people enjoying the nature at one of Berlins most popular lakes in one of its most populated areas. You have been warned! best approach from Nikolassee at Western end then hop off into the Grunewald by hiking up left on the Northern Bank

no matter what time of year, it's always beautiful here. The path is mostly shared by hikers and joggers. It's quite busy in summer and on weekends, especially the southern section. There are always lawns for those who love to swim. Despite the open banks and the busy circular path, Berlin has managed to preserve nature here and thus provide a beautiful, natural experience. At the east end there are food, drinks, a playground, a car park and sanitary facilities if required. At the west end there is a toilet container.

Always good for a stop at the Fischerhütte am Schlachtensee. If you walk around the Schlachtensee and the Krumme Lanke you have the opportunity to take a break here.

I love Schlachtensee for riding round, swimming and jogging or walking. It gets busy so I'll only ride early mornings, or in the off-season. You can ride all the way around. The north side of the lake is sandy and less firm than the south side and can be tough if its been too wet or too dry. If it's icy and the ice is old, it's very slippery for walking, let alone riding. There are a bunch of sandy trails in the forests around. The photos of the lake are relevant, those of the Allierte Museum are of a location more than 3km away and closer to the other end of the lake, so not sure why somebody posted them here. Don't be disappointed if tere are no Aircraft standing around.
