This route is definitely worth taking on the way to the Turtmann Hut. It's a very nice change from the road, which takes a long time to get to the reservoir anyway. It has a little element of surprise, as you don't necessarily expect it.

The thermal springs are within reach: Dramatic and poetic at the same time, the thermal springs footbridge leads a few meters above the stream bed into the wild Dala Gorge. The thermal springs footbridge is an imposing steel structure that leads through the Dala Gorge for around 600 meters. Some thermal springs spring up in the immediate vicinity of the stream bed. With a small cable pull, the warm thermal water can even be pulled up directly from a spring. A suspension bridge leads further to the roaring natural spectacle. At the waterfall that plunges 35 meters into the depths, you can feel the power of the water up close. A real refreshment in summer. At the end of the footbridge, there are three options for continuing the hike: to the waterfall viewing point, to the Majingsee and the Weidstübli restaurant or to the Buljes restaurant (see detailed route description).

Definitely worth it. Impressive gorge with beautiful waterfalls. You could also pass there in a wheelchair, but I don't think so. I wouldn't do that right away. Easy walk, at some points you should not be afraid of heights because you also have to climb ladders. All safe. Very nice change.

The region is known for its dynamic geological activity. You can experience thermal water emerging from rock walls at the Thermal Springs Walkway Dalaschlucht, or even scoop thermal water from the Dala river using a pulley system at the Thermal Water Bucket at the Dala Gorge Bridge. The area also features impressive gorges with natural bridges, such as the Gorge with natural bridge on Via Schluchtenweg, and the significant Raspille Gorge, which marks a linguistic boundary.
The Illgraben is a highly dynamic gorge within the Naturpark Pfyn-Finges, renowned as one of Switzerland's most geologically active mountain streams. It's a bowl-shaped, steep-sided basin over 1,500 meters deep, constantly evolving due to yearly debris flows that transport vast amounts of rock and earth. This geological activity has significantly shaped the nature reserve, contributing to its floodplains and pond landscapes. It offers a raw experience of natural forces at work.
Yes, the Thermal Springs Walkway Dalaschlucht provides excellent views into the Dala Gorge. Additionally, the Bhutan Suspension Bridge, spanning 134 meters across the Illgraben ravine, offers a splendid viewpoint and connects Upper Valais with Lower Valais. Hiking to the Illgraben from locations like Chandolin or Leuk/Susten also provides stunning views from mountain peaks.
You'll find a variety of hiking trails, including easy options like 'Over the thermal spring way' and 'Torrent panorama trail', as well as more challenging routes such as 'Glacier trail and Lämmerenhütte' and 'Circular hike to the Fluhalp'.
