Rinka Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

This waterfall is a must visit in Slovenia. To the left there is a path up to a rustic hut. Arriving at the top with a decent appetite is worth a hearty lunch followed by a cozy descent, where you can enjoy the magnificent view - slip-resistance provided;)

A small bar (coffee, beer, wine, soda, snacks) intricately built into the rock with a beautiful view of the Rinka waterfall. A dream when the weather is nice. The hut was built in 1968.

Hudičev Graben Gorge

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

Devil's graben is a relatively little gorge in the immediate vicinity of Celje, which runs a small stream that forms numerous small waterfalls. The visitor can admire beautiful natural scenes in this hidden corner under the mighty, rocky Srebotnik.
Before entering the gorge you can reach the road to Laško, where a little from Celje to the left at the turnout for Pečovnik - Zagrad turn left, then across the railway line to the right, and a little further along the railway bridge we can park. The path is marked through the "eyelids" through the marked, and leads us past the inn of the inn, through the meadows, through a lovely village, and in the lonely mill, it moves upwards to lead us through the woods of the forest to the lower entrance to the Hudičev graben.
We can visit and pass only this part where the stream is caught in a gorge or the path is extended in the direction of Celjska huts. We will need roughly 1 hour to get to the hut.
A visit to the rain and floods when the path is slippery and rocks wet and the stream can become a torrential is not suitable for a visit. Nice.

Cuc Waterfall

Highlight • Waterfall

The waterfall is located in the middle of the forest and falls about 60m over three steps into a small pool. You can see the bottom two steps. A narrow path leads directly to the waterfall. Down in the valley, the path is still marked with two signs. In addition, the path is initially identical to the ascent to the Rogatec mountain and is marked white and red. However, the junction to the waterfall is not so easy to find. There is no sign anymore. At least we haven't seen any more. However, you can use the online maps to find your way around and find your way over a shaky bridge. From there a narrow path leads about 500 m to the waterfall. From the bridge in the valley to the top it is about 230 meters in altitude and a 40-minute walk.

Waterfall in the Alps

Highlight • Waterfall

This place is often overlooked - I can only recommend it. Starting point is a barely traveled road that leads into a picturesque valley. The hike to the waterfall starts quite unspectacular, but evolves to a real highlight the closer you get to the waterfall. You really have the feeling to wander through a jungle!

On the way between Kranjski Rak and Luč, between the ridge Kranjska Reber-Kašni vrh - Rogatec and the plateau of Velika planina lies about 250 years old in the Podvolovjeka valley, a beautifully restored Sagen Mill. The mill probably does not flour anymore, but it is a well-preserved example of a technical and cultural heritage. It is worthwhile to stop beside him, sit down on the bench and listen to the noise of the water.
If you take a bad hour, you can climb back to Rep Waterfall. In fact, at the mill, the thematic path starts at the Žagerski Mill - Repov slap. On the way you can also see interesting trees in the old forest and - interesting - an artificial biotope Petkova mlaka, intended for amphibians and insects.

The trail is not so easy to find from below, but it is then marked throughout. With a lot of rain it could be quite wet.

August 3, 2025, Rinka Waterfall

The Rinka Waterfall is one of Slovenia's most beautiful and most visited natural attractions and is considered the source of the Savinja River. It is particularly impressive in spring and autumn with its large volume of water, while you can enjoy the view with a drink in the nearby Orlovo gnezdo.

An impressive waterfall with a heart - if you have a bit of imagination. In summer, the small observation hut is open and otherwise the snack bar with regional dishes at the parking lot. All highly recommended. Please do not underestimate the walk here and wear decent shoes!

Rinka Waterfall, for instance, is easily accessible via a relatively easy 10 to 15-minute walk from a parking lot, making it suitable for most ages. The Gračniški Waterfall is also listed as family-friendly. The Logar Valley Trail, a themed natural-ethnographic path, is generally well-maintained and provides an enjoyable experience for families.

What is the best time of year to visit the waterfalls in Savinjska?

The waterfalls in Savinjska are particularly impressive after heavy rainfall, especially in spring when snowmelt contributes to stronger flows, and in autumn. During these seasons, the water volume is at its peak, enhancing their grandeur. Summer offers a refreshing experience with the water dispersing into tiny droplets, while winter transforms some waterfalls, like Rinka and Palenk, into popular spots for ice climbing.

What kind of natural features can I expect to see near the waterfalls?

Beyond the waterfalls themselves, you'll encounter dramatic alpine landscapes, deep valleys, and lush forests. The Logar Valley, where many prominent waterfalls are located, is renowned as one of Europe's most beautiful alpine valleys, surrounded by the two-thousand-meter peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps. You can also explore gorges like Hudičev Graben Gorge, which features numerous smaller cascades and unique rock formations.

Are there any easy waterfall hikes in Savinjska?

Many waterfalls in Savinjska are quite accessible. The path to Rinka Waterfall is a relatively easy 10 to 15-minute walk from the parking area. Palenk Waterfall is also easily visible and accessible near Hotel Plesnik. For a slightly different experience, the Žagerski Mill to Rep Waterfall Themed Trail offers an intermediate-level hike through forest and historical sites.

What are the parking options for visiting waterfalls in Savinjska?

For prominent waterfalls like Rinka, there is typically a parking lot available at the end of the Logar Valley, from which it's a short walk to the falls. For other waterfalls, parking availability may vary, often requiring parking in nearby villages or designated areas. It's advisable to check specific access information for less-known waterfalls.

The Brložnica Waterfalls, with their four separate cascades and a natural window, offer a unique experience. Another hidden gem is the Cuc Waterfall, located in the middle of the forest, falling about 60m over three steps. These often require a bit more adventurous hiking to reach.

What do visitors enjoy most about the waterfalls in Savinjska?
