You're used to seeing a summit cross from afar. That's not the case here. A good 10 meters before the cross, you'll hear a surprised "ahh!" But it's definitely a good place to rest! It's nice that there are plenty of rest stops all around.

A beautiful but quite small dam. It is somewhat hidden, so you are relatively undisturbed here.

Marisfeld Castle Park is an exception among the cultural and historical sights in the village landscape of the district of Hildburghausen. The approximately 7-hectare park area unfolds behind the central village square, which, in addition to a few decorative half-timbered houses, a group of stately linden trees, and above all the building ensemble village church and castle. The latter, a regular four-winged building with striking corner residential towers (1663-1665) was the center of a manor, which also included the castle park. Laid out in the second half of the 19th century in the manner of a landscape garden, the complex under the landowner Baron Hermann von Eichel (1856-1934) achieved its final form around 1890, which is still largely preserved today: Trees and shrubs from the local flora form the skilful arranged vegetation. An intricate network of paths always offers new perspectives on the inner and outer area of the park. A small pond with an island of trees, which used to supply a village mill, is particularly picturesque, especially when the castle above is reflected in the water. From the former hereditary burial ground of the von Eichel family in the rear part of the park, only a few remains and simple staffage buildings unfortunately no longer exist today. Here at the end of the Erletor dam you can find the inlet of the Finstere Erle. This mainly fills the dam for drinking water supply. You can also continue to follow the Finsterer Erle via the groom's path and thus reach the heights in the direction of Wegscheide.

The Hofteich, which is often used as a hiking destination, is also part of the history of Belrieth. There was a farm here until 1988, which fell victim to a political decision from the GDR era. Only the big barn has been saved from loss. It was implemented and can now be admired in the Veßra Monastery open-air museum.
