October 19, 2024, Altlay Recreation and Barbecue Area

The recreational area consists of a 200 square meter rustic wooden shelter. There is a spacious covered barbecue area in the immediate vicinity. Users also have access to solid sanitary facilities. In an adjoining room there is a counter with a sink with hot and cold running water and a refrigerator. Other facilities include marquee furniture and mobile windows for the shelter. Thanks to the power connection and permanently installed lighting, your event does not have to end when darkness falls. The large parking and camping area round off the offer. The rental fees for public commercial events are €120, private events cost €60. Local users only pay half the rental costs. Electricity and water are billed separately according to consumption. When using the barbecue, an additional cleaning fee of €10 is charged. Of course, the site and its facilities must be left completely clean. A deposit of €60 is charged for security. I don't want to create a restaurant guide, but this little forest tavern deserves a mention. Fantastic view and delicious food from the rotisserie grill. Seating is available both inside and outside. Prices and quality are just as good as the friendliness of the owners. Opening hours are Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

April 10, 2023, Rotzekopp Hut

On the municipal border between Pilmeroth and Emmeroth, for example, you pass the Rotzekopp Hut on the Moselsteig Trail, a side trip to the parish's valley tour. The trail leads up along a beautiful, narrow path. Built in 1973 by the volunteer fire departments of both villages, it can now be rented for events after renovations in 2001. The complex consists of several fire pits and huts, as well as a stage. A campsite is located right next to it. The site on Rotzekopp is called the Kaisergarten (Emperor's Garden). Therefore, some of the seating areas on the grounds face the "Kaisereiche" (Emperor's Oak). Many locations and trees (especially the "German" oak) were dedicated to the German Emperor and the German Empire at the end of the 19th century. These names are gradually disappearing as many old oak trees reach the end of their lives and are felled.
