Nice trail. I haven't seen the pond now, the point is probably wrong. When I look at the map, there are 2 ponds to consider.

September 5, 2025, Pond Among the Rocks

The rock pond in the Gaisbach Valley was created in the late 1830s. At the initiative and direction of Ernzen pastor Philipp Meyer, the villagers transformed a natural rock formation into the pond. At that time, severe poverty prevailed among the people of the Eifel region. The pastor hired workers from the Ernzen population to develop the gorge and paid their wages out of his own pocket. The pond uses a hydraulic ram to supply water. Since 1979, the municipality of Ernzen, as owner, has maintained and cared for the pond.

Carp still live here in the pond today. The pond used to be used as a fire pond for Bollendorf Castle.
