The geological features of the Schelderwald forest, with its ores and minerals, are also vividly explained. Special tours are also available! A great nature trail with display boards, which you can understand even as a layman. The access to the caves should be done better with sturdy shoes. Really worthwhile and you should definitely make a detour to the autumn labyrinth. Really worth it.

An interesting quarry with lots to discover. If you pause a bit, many animals can be observed. The entrance is sometimes under water, then access is only possible with boots or barefoot (if you dare). Quite busy on Sundays and public holidays. Worth seeing in every season.

The Sinn region offers a mix of natural karst formations, such as exposed rock chambers, and historical sites like former mining tunnels. You'll find subterranean features shaped by both natural processes and past industrial activity.
Visitors particularly enjoy the Large and Small Stone Chambers, which are fossil parts of the Erdbach cave system. Another popular spot is the Erdbach Spring, where the Erdbach river reappears above ground, especially impressive during high water flows.
Yes, the region has a rich mining history. The Grube Ypsilanta Mine Entrance is a notable historical site offering a glimpse into the area's past. The Old Erdbach Quarry and Caves also features former limestone mining operations with small caves.
Absolutely. The Erdbach Karst Nature Trail is a wonderful path with natural history and impressive rock formations, highly recommended for children. The Small Stone Chamber, in particular, is very cool for slightly larger children, offering a small passage to explore with a flashlight.
The area is known for its natural karst formations, which are spectacular rock structures created by weathering processes. You can see these both underground and above ground, particularly along the Erdbach Karst Nature Trail.
Many of the accessible cave areas and trails, like the Erdbach Karst Nature Trail, are considered easy to intermediate. Some passages within caves, such as the Small Stone Chamber, might require a bit of crawling for adults but are generally manageable with a flashlight.
For exploring the caves and trails, comfortable walking shoes are recommended. A flashlight is essential for navigating smaller passages, especially in places like the Small Stone Chamber. It's also advisable to wear layers, as cave temperatures can be cooler.
For sites like the Erdbach Spring, it becomes particularly interesting during periods of high water flow, such as after heavy rain or snowmelt. For viewing the stone chambers, it's suggested to visit when there are no leaves on the trees for better visibility.
