It's a challenging bike ride to this hut, but you get what you pay for. Fantastic mountain views. A lovely place to rest for a while, and they have delicious dishes on the menu.

Always open until the cattle drive. This year 2024 until the beginning of October! Owner Fred has the best Kaiserschmarrn there is!! :-) There are also very special wines stored in the wine cellar... There are not many huts that can pamper a wine lover like this!!

Oh dear, oh dear, what has happened to the beautiful Hirnalm? First there are great promises of a good Styrian meal, but when, like us today, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, after a long march, we are finally tired and looking forward to a good meal, we are greeted with "it's closed". Apparently "everything was destroyed by the storm", although all the tables were set and everything was spotlessly clean. After a storm, things look different! No destruction to be seen anywhere. The event stage was also intact! And along the whole route, there was NO indication that the alpine pasture was closed! We didn't even get a drink of water. The lady present didn't give the impression that she was busy clearing up the destruction either. A driver unloaded drinks, probably for the upcoming event. That's not how you treat mountain hikers! What has become of the beautiful alpine pasture that I hiked to as a child? A posh place where hikers are not welcome?
