In the early 13th century, the Lords of Hünenberg built a residential castle on the spur high above the Lorzentobel, but it was abandoned after 200 years and later used as a quarry. In 1985 the ruins were saved from final decay and carefully restored. Since then, the Wildenburg has once again been an impressive and publicly accessible testimony to Baar's past.
