Viewpoint at Reinebringen

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great tour with a sensational view. The last piece at the top has no steps. This is definitely not for smaller children. You also need good shoes here (and this is not recommended after rain). Definitely risk of falling rocks!

Offersøykammen

Highlight • Summit

Probably the best short Hike in the area, the views from the top are just stunning.

It is a bit steep in places and can be slippery if wet, but the scenic views from the top are the totally rewarding.

The roundtrip takes less than two hours (excluding breaks), so it's easy to combine it with some other short hikes nearby (like Mannen) if you are up to it.

Måtind Summit

Highlight • Summit

From Baugtua it is a nice and easy climb over Nonstind to Måtinden. You get a nice panoramic view as a reward before you either start the way back or walk towards Bleik. We chose the latter, even though it meant 2.5 miles (4 km) on the road between the end and the start of the walk. Halfway we were spontaneously offered a lift by a super friendly local.

Keiservarden Summit

Highlight • Summit

Keiservarden is probably Bodø's most popular hiking destination, which is probably well visited all year round. The path up Veten (that's what the mountain is actually called) is well-paved and easy to walk, which is what many people do. The view from the way, but especially from the summit, is simply sensational. You have a 360° view, from the one over Bodø to the one over the sea. If the visibility is good, you can see the Lofoten Islands flashing in the distance. The light is unique. You have to do it!
Why is the mountain called Keiservarden? Well, because in 1891 the German Emperor Wilhelm II (and his entourage) was up here. A landmark was erected in his honor and the path up here was called Keiserstien. Wilhelm II was a Norway fan.

Tindstinden (472 m)

Highlight • Summit

Amazing hike, relatively easy to navigate once on a path, though in places it is gets very wet even during summer, the higher parts of the hill secured with ropes. Amazing views.

Ryten Summit

Highlight • Summit

Ryten is a deservedly popular objective that's suitable for avid hiking families. The views from the top down to the idyllic Kvalvika Beach are sumptuous. Take care on the path up, as the cliff edge is never far away... and it's very steep.

Hoven Summit

Highlight • Summit

Hoven is reached relatively quickly. It was quite muddy where we were because it had rained a lot. Danger of slipping! But it's not too difficult. The view from the top (in our case at midnight) was great despite the fog.

Skjæringen Peak

Highlight • Summit

Skjæringen is often ascended along with the neighbouring Tvillingan (the Twins). The hike up to Aksla, the shoulder between the peaks, is relatively straightforward and the onward hike is fairly gradual, ascending to the 3,402-foot (1,037 m) summit.

Kaiservarden Summit

Flakstadtinden Summit

Highlight • Summit

Fantastic panoramic views over two of the most photographed locations in the Lofoten: Hustinden and the Skagsanden beach. This is a good change of perspective compared to photographing them from the ground. Also I believe this would be a great location to view the northern lights from, for this willing to hike at night with a headlamp.

Even though many websites claim the hike to the fork is very easy and straightforward, we found it challenging. A head for heights and surefootedness are essential. The climb is very steep, requiring scrambling in many places, which is not without its risks for inexperienced hikers!

Super steep at the end. The way up is okay. The way down is rather tough; it's a sloping, exposed, rocky, and sandy path. Only recommended in good conditions and if you don't mind going downhill.

Keiservarden is a real favourite for the people of Bødo. In 2016, Queen Sonja officially open the sherpa-built trail up to the summit. At the top of the climb, there's a circular viewfinder that allows you to name the surrounding islands and peaks.
