Pacmen64 🇵🇹
April 7, 2026, Aldeia de São Brás do Regedouro

Starting from the rehabilitation of traditional village houses and based on a concept of comfort/charm accommodation, this project has positively changed the face of the village of S. Brás do Regedouro, whose historical roots are based on the fact that it was an old support area for travelers at the natural crossroads between the interior and the coast of Alentejo. Initiated in 2019, "S. Brás do Regedouro Turismo na Aldeia" was born from the desire of the Ribeiro family, originally from Lisbon, who decided to invest in an innovative concept of rural tourism that interconnects with the local reality. The preservation of the urbanistic and architectural features characteristic of the typical Alentejan rural village was taken into account as a mandatory condition, as well as respect for the traditional and cultural values of the inhabitants, who continue to feel at home. In this context lies the underlying proposal of the project: to offer guests a rural experience in a space with history and in direct contact with local residents.

Head out on this 15.8-km circular trail near Alvito, Beja District. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This trail is great for mountain biking, running, and bike touring, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome and may be off-lead in some areas. The Alvito Mills Trail (PR2 AVT) is part of the walking tours that have seen a strong increase in recent years in Portugal as a whole and in the Alentejo region in particular. This route is made up of rural dirt tracks with moderate gradients that get steeper on the hills where the historic windmills and chapels with fresco paintings still stand.

QUINTA DO GRILO – a paradise for animals Set in a beautiful rural setting, surrounded by the silence of the vast Alentejo plains, Quinta do Grilo has a very familiar and welcoming style, providing an authentic experience of the Alentejo region. We prioritize the privacy and tranquility of our guests, who are just 15 minutes from the beautiful historic city of ÉVORA (World Heritage Site) and thirty minutes from the large ALQUEVA lake, 45 minutes from the beautiful town of Monsaraz, where you can discover some of the wonders of national history and architecture. On the farm you can admire and feed the animals. We have a donkey (Mirandez), horses, ponies, goats, sheep, pigeons, Vietnamese pigs, guinea pigs and several birds. We have a small leisure/rest area where you can enjoy a good meal by grilling your food (barbecue) as well as cool off a little in our shower and enjoy the peace of the countryside listening to various types of birds chirping. At the beginning of the day or at the end of the day, there is nothing better than taking a horse ride through the stunning plain and enjoying nature at its best.

Ruins of the Ganhoteira Thermal Baths. Between the towns of Aguiar, in the municipality of Viana do Alentejo, and São Bartolomeu do Outeiro, in the municipality of Portel, are the ruins of the Ganhoteira Thermal Baths, which used to belong to the municipality of Évora. Construction records date back to 1853. They have been abandoned for about sixty years and currently belong to the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, which has fenced off the area, but allows access on the rural roads that serve the area. In the past, local residents would come to bathe in these thermal baths, as the water is very ferruginous and hyposaline, forming a red cream on the surface. It was used to treat skin and psychiatric diseases. The Associação dos Amigos de Alcáçovas, through the Grupo Pedestrianista Alcáçovas Outdoor, regularly organizes hikes in this area of the Serra de Portel.
