ℹ️ Lambsheim pond The lake between Lambsheim (Rhine-Palatinate district) and Frankenthal is around 20 hectares in size. It is self-contained and has no above-ground outflow or inflow. The water in the pond, which is up to nine meters deep, comes solely from the groundwater. Its level is quite high at the pond because the Fuchsbach flows past to the northeast for about 400 meters - at the narrowest point there is only about ten meters between the stream and the lake. On the east side is the Brandgraben, which flows in a northerly direction in front of the neighboring motorway and then flows into the Fuchsbach above the northeastern tip of the pond. The popular Lambsheimer Weiher was created in the late 1960s as a quarry pond. At that time, sand and gravel were extracted for the construction of Autobahn 61. After the removal of deeper layers, the previously removed topsoil was replenished. Today it forms a soft and muddy lake bed

Here you can already observe water animals, also because the bank vegetation is still so dense and the path is close to the lake. But please do not disturb.
