September 2, 2026, Lakeside Shelter and Toilet

Attention: the 15 km connecting path planned by us between the 2 gravel tracks to cross Marsfjället northwards towards Sagavägen/Hattfjelldal turns out to be purely a winter path (Skidoo) on site, which is overgrown and deeply marshy in summer (even pushing a bike is impossible). For us, this consequently meant a 140 km detour – at least scenically attractive – via Saxnäs and Dikanäs. Maybe they will build a proper path someday (see photo/info sheet in Swedish)? We had not planned any overnight stay here. The shelter itself did not look very inviting to us. A note in Swedish informs about activities and asks for money/membership fee (see photo).

Coming from the south, you have just completed a small, really steep climb. The view of Marsfjället is beautiful. Only the wind whistles a little cold here. The pass is also used by wild animals, which leave their droppings in large numbers.
