Groß Niendorf lies in a flat landscape without any major elevations. The place is in the middle of the town square of Sternberg, Goldberg, Crivitz and Parchim.
The municipality of Groß Niendorf, which was independent until 2011, was administered by the Parchimer Umland office. It was the smallest and northernmost congregation in office. The districts of Groß Niendorf, Hohenpritzer settlement and Ruester settlement belonged to it.
From 2012 the community came as a district to Zölkow. The small town has about 230 inhabitants today.

Sightseeing features:
Dorfkirche Groß Niendorf, small stone church without a tower, end of the 13th century. The bronze bell without an inscription was recast in 1878 and hangs in the free-standing belfry erected in 2015.
Small pond as the center of the village with water lilies and frogs. The pond is surrounded by willows.

In 2007, part of the film Novemberkind, starring actress Anna Maria Mühe, was shot in Groß Niendorf.

Small lake for swimming and fishing. There is a jetty, benches and a snack bar.

You automatically cross the wooden bridge when you go around the lake. It is embedded in the jungle-like forest. Very well done!

Was here often as a child. The mausoleum used to be open and you could take a look inside through the bars.

Unfortunately, the two benches directly on the hiking trail were very overgrown and not really usable. The figure is indeed very impressive and the story about the mausoleum and the deer is very interesting. Both can be read on an information board right at the entrance. The view of the lake is gorgeous.
