Agiofili Beach

Highlight • Beach

In the off-season, a completely deserted and beautiful beach with crystal-clear water. Access via private property but apparently permitted by the owner. There is an access gate which was closed in the off-season (November). To the left of it, however, there is a path which you can use to bypass the gate. There is even a shower above the beach.

In the high season, however, the whole thing seems to be a little different in terms of access and crowds………

Agios Donatos Threshing Floors

Highlight • Historical Site

There are tens of round threshing floors on this hill and on the next one. They were used until a few decades ago to free the lentils harvested in the fields nearby from their pods. This was done using animals to pull a wooden board with a man standing on top. Next to each round threshing floor are stone built shelters the farmers used to protect themselves from the elements, rest and store tools during the weeks that the job required. You can enter quite easily some of the shelters, at your own risk of course! Check out this video shot in Agios Donatos to get an idea of the work: .

Unfortunately there is no water in the off-season. But the gorge is still worth seeing. There is a large parking lot. Sturdy shoes are advisable.

You can also take another route back from the cafe. Very steep at first, but then a nice path and down via hard road.

You have to walk through private property, which is closed off with a large blue gate. This is only open for pedestrians from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
