Sure footing and good footwear are essential on the Magdeburg Trail. In some places, the path is a bit challenging as it becomes very narrow; hiking poles are definitely helpful here. But the approximately 3 km hike rewards you with wonderful views. The highlight of the trail is the bench carved into the rock, from which you can enjoy the view down into the valley.

The Magdeburger Weg (reopening in 2025) was one of the many highlights of the Hexenstieg hike. A fantastic singletrack trail that's pure joy! On one side, the rugged rock faces, on the other, the stunning panoramic view across the valley and the opposite mountain landscape. This seating area carved into the rock has alpine charm and is the perfect finishing touch. What a spectacular spot for a short break!

On the 'new' old Magdeburg Trail - a beautiful bench in honor of Privy Councillor Schneider... this fantastic trail has now been reopened by the Harz National Park after years of closure (2025). A pristine, wonderful nature experience with the Steep Wall, unique to the Harz region.
