St Mildred's Church in Tenterden dates from the 12th century and is Grade 1 listed. The imposing tower which is 130 feet in height, dominates the town's skyline, and was constructed in 1461. The tower is built of Bethersden Marble, a locally quarried Limestone containing many thousands of brightly coloured shells.

Tenterden Town station opened on 16 March 1903. The line closed for regular passenger services on 4 January 1954 and all traffic in 1961. It reopened on 3 February 1974
