Carn Marth and Hick's Quarry Pool

Highlight • Viewpoint

From the top of Carn Marth at 755 feet (230 m), there are incredible views over the rural countryside of inland Cornwall. With a rich history from mining and quarrying, this area is littered with disused mining works and quarries, like the former granite quarry here that is now flooded to form Hick's Quarry pool.

Padstow Harbour

Highlight • Beach

Padstow is a charming fishing town and harbour that is rich in history and heritage. Whilst it can get busy, it is for good reason as the picturesque town has lots to see and experience. There are many attractive beaches and coves close to Padstow, too, including Bedruthan Steps, said to be the stepping stones of an ancient giant, and Constantine Bay, one of the best surfing beaches in the area.

Mousehole Village and Harbour

Highlight • Settlement

The fishing village of Mousehole has narrow, bustling streets filled with small shops, galleries, restaurants, and cottages built from finely grained Lamorna granite. Dylan Thomas described the village as the loveliest in England — but many Cornish people would dispute that this part of the world can even be classed as England! The village has a thriving art scene as artists come to work amid the picturesque landscape.

Mevagissey Harbour

Highlight • Historical Site

In the narrow streets of Mevagissey you find myriad shops, workshops, galleries, cafes and pubs, as well as many old buildings made of cob and slate. There are plenty of traditional fish and chip shops to try here, too. The picturesque town was once the centre of Cornwall’s pilchard fishery and, even today, still has a small working harbour with a few dozen fishing boats.

The Loe and Loe Bar

Highlight • Lake

This is a nice combination. From Loe Baar you have a view of the sea on one side and a view of a freshwater lake on the other. This allows you to walk completely around the lake.

Fowey Harbour

Highlight • River

On the south coast of Cornwall lies Fowey, a small British town that is a popular day trip and holiday destination. It stretches a mile along the steep hills along the west bank of the River Fowey to its mouth in the English Channel. As a result of the numerous wars waged by King Edward I of England towards the end of the 13th century, the traditional Cinque Ports in south-east England were increasingly the target of enemy raids. That is why the ports in south-west England gained in importance, especially as they were also more favorable for trade with Gascony, which at that time belonged to England. Among the ports that thrived around this time was Fowey, which not only became a major trading port but also served as a base for numerous military expeditions. Today Fowey is an important seaport.
The mouths of the River Fowey and the Pont Pill form a protected natural deep water harbor accessible in all weather and tidal conditions. The port is home to around 1500 boats and is a popular sailing destination. Annually in August, the week-long Fowey Royal Regatta takes place, one of the most famous sailing events in Great Britain. Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Queen have already taken part in the regatta
Elizabeth II.

Worth climb to the cairn for the downhill section on the main access road. Then drop into single track round the back lanes of Carharrack. Sweet! :)

There is a ferry from the harbor to the Scilly Islands, which are a must-see. Otherwise there is a nice promenade.

Small, beautiful fishing town with a smuggling past. The cottages and the mill at the entrance to the town are very nice. We were there at low tide and the boats were lying in the mud.

For me, St. Ives is one of the most idyllic places on Cornwall's coast. Here you will not only find shops, pubs and nice cafés, but also many small art galleries.

Padstow is famous for it's beautiful harbour, sandy beaches and amazing fish restaurants. Whether you grab fish and chips and sit on the harbour wall, or sample TV chef Rick Stein's first restaurant, the beaches and the food are not to be missed whilst you're here!

It is a nightmare to cycle through once the visitors are there I.e. most of the year. Cyclists don't stand a chance, I cycle to Rock and catch the ferry over to P if I need to go there.
